The aim of the assignment is to risk assess, identify and, in a safe way, transport and deliver approx. 160 tons of hazardous waste to a certified site. The assignment includes the costs of delivering the waste to a certified site. A certified site can be both a reception and temporary storage for hazardous waste and a treatment plant for hazardous waste with a licence in accordance with the Pollution Act.
The hazardous waste was collected from local industry companies and consists of, amongst other things, waste containing oil, paint, solvents, batteries etc. The waste owner has an estimated total amount of 160 tons of hazardous waste, but the amount is very uncertain. Further details of the containers and the hazardous waste is in annex 1 of the tender documentation. The amount and content of the hazardous waste has not been fully mapped and a part of the assignment will be to identify the waste.
The waste in stored in five containers at Flatholmen and five containers at Vegsund in Ålesund municipality. See annex 1 of the tender documentation for further details of the localities.
The County Governor shall, as the pollution authority, initiate the clearance of the hazardous waste, as the responsible owner has not done this after an imposition to clear up. The aim of the assignment is to get all the hazardous waste delivered to a certified site in a safe way.
