NTNU intends to procure one (1) 7T human MR system.
The main aim is to enable Norwegian neuro science research on brain functions in healthy human volunteers, with a particular emphasis on rendering to humans the ground breaking finds in the medial temporal lobe in rats, which resulted in a nobel peace prize in 2014 for Edvard and May-Britt Moser. This main priority function will require a combination of different methods for in-vivo structural brain dimensioning, with extremely high spatial resolution and functional brain dimensioning (in a broad sense), with the highest possible spatiotemporal resolution.
See the other procurement documents for further details and the requirements for the 7T system.
