The current system for mobile access to the health network from ambulances (vehicles, boats, aircraft) and other ambulant health services is less robust than what is desirable. Based on this, Nasjonal IKT has, on behalf of the health authorities, started a project to assess a more robust mobile health network. It will also be important to be able to differentiate the systems according to different needs and geographical challenges.
In order to provide a more robust system, there will be a need for several (minimum 2) mobile networks and preferably support for several communication carriers. There will be a need for infrastructure systems with authentication/authorisation mechanisms, communication equipment in vessels that can utilise the systems and subscriptions to data traffic/alls, as well as operation and administration of the systems.
In addition to equipment for assembly in vessels, there will also be mobile equipment. This equipment is intended for different uses, e.g. for ambulance personnel who leave vessels or district nurses in patients' homes.
