It can take a long time from a species is introduced until it eventually is established, spread in the wild and ends up as a threat to native biodiversity. Targeted searches of invasive alien species in the establishment stage will thus be very important for implementing cost-effective measures at an early stage of the process. The project must launch a monitoring system for early detection and notification of new invasive alien species in the terrestrial natural environment. The selected monitoring areas must have a focus on vascular plants and insects, emphasise the use of new technology and comply with high requirements for quality in the determination of species. The project contains several options.
