Streamer (hydrophone cable) depth control is an important element of seismic data acquisition. Keeping a streamer at a predefined target depth optimizes the bandwidth and maximizes both resolution, signal-to-noise ratio, and repeatability of the investigations. The UiT needs depth control to run its streamer at full length.
