Universitetet I Oslo [Oslo University] currently has a STM high pressure reactor that will be upgraded with an XPS unit. The existing set-up consists of chambers for 1) UHV/high pressure STM measurements and 2) basic sample preparation and characterisation (LEED/AUGER) with trailer. XPS must be integrated integrated on the side of the preparation chamber in two work set-ups (Leiden and Brookhaven). The custom-built Oslo University system, as it is now, is already designed and prepared for integration with the XPS system from LPM. For the Leiden and Brookhaven machines, LPM integrated a self-developed HP STM microscope with XPS, an analyser and a source that was supplied by SPECS. The custom-built STM relies on a proprietary sample holder and test stage (LPM) for high pressure measurements.
