The Norwegian Sequencing Centre is the country´s leading service provider of large-scale DNA sequencing. NSC consists of equal partners from CEES, the Institute for Life Science (UiO) and the Institute for Medical Genetics, Oslo University Hospital, see http://www.sequencing.uio.no/ for further information. IBV would like to establish a “Microfluidics Droplet Platfom” (MDP-Bio) in collaboration with the CEES and Evogene sections. This will be a joint infrastructure that will consist of different systems/instruments adapted for specific purposes. NSC will be responsible for the operation of the platform. The equipment that is to be procured will cover the “de novo genomics/assembly” discipline, in which the focus is to build good reference genomes for various species. The equipment from 10x Genomics is validated and found to be suitable for the purpose and is used by collaboration partners/consortiums, and will, therefore, be implemented as part of the MDP-Bio platform. No other suppliers have equivalent systems/assays and software for “de novo assembly”.
