GÉANT World Service (GWS) provides commodity IP access, offering access to the wider, commercial internet. It is used by National Research and Education Networking providers (NRENs) for a number of reasons including convenience where an NREN does not wish to organise an individual connection to an IP Transit Provider as well as for NRENs seeking commercial and network diversity to complement their primary or existing commodity IP access.

This tender seeks to establish a range of non committed framework agreements, under which call off contracts for upstream services can be placed, at various points of presence as detailed in the tender documents.

The maximum envisaged number of Frameworks awarded on a per PoP basis is no more than 5 although GEANT reserves the right to award to less than 5 providers in a specific PoP location if minimum standards in respect of Technical requirements are not met, in accordance with the Invitation to Tender documents.
