The Danish Coastal Authority (KDI) is developing a real‑time dike‑breach warning system to be activated during storm surge alerts. This warning system will form part of the Danish Meteorological Institute’s (DMI) National Flood Warning System for Denmark.
The platform must be able to initiate KDI’s National Dike Breach Model based on forecast data from DMI.
The deliverable consists of providing a platform that, based on storm forecasts from DMI’s Open Data API, initiates a coupled SFINCS + Snapwave model.
The delivery is divided into phases, where Phase 2 can only begin if KDI accepts the delivery of Phase 1 and finds it reasonable to proceed. If not, Phase 2 and its associated payment are cancelled.
- Phase 1 (required): Investigation phase, setup of the first version of the platform on a PC using available data and models, including the ability to visualize the models on a map.
- Phase 2 (optional): Workshops with staff on configuring and modifying the platform, finalizing the platform, installing it on KDI’s internal servers, and testing it.
The platform must be adaptable to Danish conditions and scalable to national coverage.
