The purpose of the assignment is implementation/on-site coordination of measures in the protection of arctic foxes carried out at Varangerhalvøya [the Varang Peninsula], including evaluation of the efficiency of the measures. There is also research into the ecosystem conditions of the arctic fox with a particular focus on the role of the red fox in the ecosystem and factors affecting the predator community in this low-Arctic mountain area, and adjacent control areas. The arctic fox module will perform systematic data collection for long time series adapted for analysis of the effects of measures, ecosystem relationships and changes.
