Mapping of corals in Skarnsundet, Tauterryggen and Rødberget marine protected area

The County Governor of Trøndelag is the administrative authority for the marine protected areas Skarnsundet, Tauterryggen and Rødberget, all located in the Trondheimsfjord. The main objective for all three protected areas is to preserve the coral reefs that are located within the protective borders. In the current regulations, there is no prohibition regarding fishing and using fishing tools in the protected areas. This can lead to fishing tools being accidentally caught in the corals during fishing. The County Governor believes that such accidents can be avoided if the positions (coordinates) of the corals are known. The objective of the project is to map corals in the marine protected areas in the Trondheimsfjord: Tauterryggen, Skarnsundet and Rødberget.
