The residence building of the Finnish Embassy in Copenhagen will be renovated to house both the office and the residence of the Embassy.
The residence building is located in central Copenhagen, next to the fortress area, in Gronningen 11. The building was built in 1918, originally for residential use. It is not culturally and historically protected, but any instructions of the authorities regarding building protection must be taken into account in repair work.
The building became the property of the Finnish state in the 1940s and has since undergone extensive technical repairs in 1978-83.
The aim of this project is to implement a comprehensive technical renovation, in connection with which the technical condition, layout, safety and equipment of the premises will be updated.
The total renovation will be carried out in accordance with today's quality level, in accordance with the applicable local building regulations and guidelines, as well as the instructions of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The facilities are designed to be healthy, safe, comfortable and up-to-date. Special attention is paid to fire safety, accessibility, indoor air quality, sound attenuation and lighting in the design and implementation. The principles of sustainable development are taken into account in planning and implementation.
The renovation includes structural, HVAC- and electrical engineering as well as interior design work.
