Short description
Trondheim airport Værnes has for a long period had capacity problems for BHS [the Main Sorting Hall] The sorting of passengers is divided between 2 halls, one of which (international passengers) the sorting is handled manually. There are also significant HSE challenges in the main sorting hall (BHS) as this hall is narrow and has very low ceiling height (some maintenance platforms have a working height of down to one metre). There is no room for the packing/loading of aircraft containers. Large arrivals/departures, particularly during winter seasons with a lot of odd luggage, are sorted outdoor.
The expansion includes the construction of a new BHS with capacity for handling domestic and international arrivals and departures up until 2035.
