If nobody handles a funeral this shall be provided by the municipality in accordance with § 9 of the Burial Ground, Cremation and Funeral Act (The Burial Act). GFE is therefore obliged to undertake the responsibility for approx. 100 funerals per annum and must therefore procure services from funeral homes to carry out these funerals. This type of funeral is referred to as 'kommunal gravferd' ['municipal funeral'].
