Short description
3 year research project with an option for 2 additional years, where the purpose is to gain more knowledge about golden eagles as a cause of loss on domestic reindeer in parts of Troms and Finnmark counties. The project will also investigate how the loss to the golden eagle is affected by other factors and what role sea eagles play in the loss of reindeer. It will be necessary to obtain an overview of the eagle populations in the research area and it will be necessary to instrument both the golden eagle and sea eagle as well as domesticated reindeer for the location. The research must work closely with relevant reindeer grazing districts, relevant reindeer owners, veterinary expertise, the Norwegian Directorate for Nature Management and other collaborative partners.
