In preparation for a possible future tender procedure, the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) wants to explore the possibilities that synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems provide for surveillance etc. in Arctic areas. In this regard DALO wants to test a system with full polarimetric and interferometric capability and as many frequencies as possible. Thus, DALO has chosen to conduct tests with F-SAR from the German Aerospace Center (DLR), which makes it possible to explore five frequency bands in the range of 300 MHz to 10 GHz. The objective of the tests is to explore which features and frequencies best accommodate the needs of the Danish Defence, with due regard to a possible future purchase of an advanced SAR system. The tests will be carried out partly in Denmark and partly in Greenland.
