The integrated whole-body PET/MR equipment will be used for a wide variety of advanced research projects in areas such as oncology, cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes and neurological diseases. Both preclinical and clinical research projects will be performed. The placement of the equipment - integrated into Akademiska sjukhusets PET center in Uppsala - will enable the use of the full range of PET tracers, including very short-lived molecules such as oxygen-15.
