National Land Survey of Finland is planning to tender aerial imaging services and data processing services for three operational seasons, more specifically for years 2023 – 2025. The combined area of target sites is about 60 000 km2 per each operational year. The ground sampling distance (GSD, pixel size in ground units) of the image data is 30cm.
National Land Survey of Finland is acting as a national expertise organization regarding procurement and processing of aerial imaging data. NLS also provides procurement services for its partner organisations, taking care of aerial imaging services acquisition from the industry vendors. NLS is also responsible for all payments to the industry vendors. Moreover, NLS takes care of quality assessment and quality control of aerial image data delivered by the industry vendors.
Imaging data, which is the target of the procurement at hand, is being used at NLS for updating map databases and web services. Imaging data is also utilized by governmental partner organizations of NLS under the National Imaging and Laser Scanning Program. Some of the partner organizations are the Finnish Forest Administration and the Finnish Forest Centre, which maintains and updates forest resources information in Finland. Other partners to be mentioned are the Finnish Food Authority and the Finnish Environmental Institute.
