Monitoring Measures for Limed Salmon Water Courses in Norway 2020-2023

This assignment is for biological and water chemical monitoring of the effect of liming in salmon water courses. In all of the limed water courses, investigations are to be carried out of young fish (field investigation in the autumn) and benthic fauna (spring and autumn tests) every other year at a permanent network of stations. The investigations and analyses must be carried out in accordance with standardised and acknowledged methodology. In addition, water samples are to be taken once a month under the auspices of the Norwegian Environment Agency, where the analysis results must be included (i.e. compared and assessed) in the annual monitoring. The results of the biological and chemical studies must be compiled in an annual report. The report must show the development over time (based on previous years' results), where the goal achievements for the liming are evaluated, and an assessment of the achievement of goals for the liming, as well as a description of any need for changes in the liming strategy.
