The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) is under the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and is the Central department in alien management in Norway. UDI, as central national professional body within immigration and refugees, shall initiate and contribute to the development of the government's immigration and refugee policies.
UDI's aim is that Norwegian immigration and refugee policies are implemented as efficiently, correctly and considerately as possible.
UDI shall facilitate wanted and legal immigration and ensure that persons who fulfil the terms can come to Norway. At the same time, UDI shall see to the control function and ensure that the system is not misused.
