Norges Teknisk Naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU), Innkjøp 974 767 880 Seksjon for Anskaffelser Trondheim 7491 Terje Haarberg +47 41188525 terje.haarberg@ntnu.no www.ntnu.no Upgrading of the electron microscopy laboratory at the core facility, CMIC ANSK-0052-18 At NTNU, MH Fakultet [Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences], CMIC we have 2 transmission electron microscopes, Jeol 1011 and Thermo Fisher Tecnai 12, we shall replace the 2 side mounted digital cameras from Morada with Morada G3. The upgrade will include converting the software from iTEM to the new version of Radius. This software is also used for camera control, image preparation and image analysis. 1000000.00 NTNU Trondheim. The important reason for this upgrade is to ensure full camera support from the service provider (Morada is no longer produced, and spare parts and support are not available), since offering electron microscopy as a research and clinical service for a core facility requires image capture to always be available. This upgrade will also involve converting to 64 bits technology to be compatible with modern network operations. Medical also aims to reuse the camera’s cooling system and minimise the need for software training. 1 important requirement for this upgrade is the integration of the camera system to the Tecnai microscope. The current software and communication system will be uninstalled from Tecnai / PC and resurrected on a new work station as a separate system, but with full communication to the microscope. The communication will be take place with “Tecnai scripting”. An efficient and reliable use of digital cameras required important parameters to be read by the microscope (for example, magnification), and for radiation control, steering the test phase for e.g. automatic shadow check procedures and automatic multimedia recording and adjustment. There are very few suppliers of digital cameras for electron microscopes, and 16 M pixel side mounted camera at a comparable price cannot be found. Middle-mounted or bottom-mounted cameras are in principle an alternative, but we need the “broad visual field” offered by the side mounted cameras, and in addition to this, the camera is 2 to 4 times the price and therefore is not a realistic alternative. The supplier will set up communication and take full responsibility for both microscopes, including warranty for the products and the work as well as implementation, use and future support. The package also contains 6 separate Radius desktop licences and 2 days of training by an application specialist. The Contracting Authority points out that this procurement is not possible to implement with reference to PPR § 13-4, Letter b, Point 2. After exhaustively investigating the market, other suppliers of the requested camera have been found, but none of them have the technical possibility to take on the responsibility for the upgrade, with consequent training and warranty on the delivery and warranty on the upgrading / installation.
