A catamaran ferry shall take visitors from the mainland to Lysøen (hereafter called the ‘Vessel’, in the Contract it is called the Ship). The Vessel shall be promoted as an exhibition window for modern maritime technology, with, amongst other things, electrical propulsion and a high degree of automation. The Vessel shall be a landmark suitable for the promotion of the museum and suppliers, with a high public profile.
Ole Bulls villa on Lysøen from 1873 is one of the world's most photographed musician homes and one of Norway's most internationally exposed concert arenas, which annually attracts considerable national and international press. The Vessel shall be experienced as an extension of the museum's positive role in society and the ordinary crossing of 850 m shall be an extension of the museum experience. The Vessel shall also sail around the local waters on representation and VIP cruises, with some entertainment and refreshments during the cruise. The Vessel could be used in transit over longer distances within the area of service, with and without guests.
