Skedsmo municipality is located centrally in Akershus between Gardermoen and Oslo. The municipality has had many years of strong development, with the town Lillestrøm as a local, regional and national meeting place. Skedsmo municipality has 52 000 inhabitants and is the 14th largest municipality in the country. The urban developments in Skedsmo are Lillestrøm, Strømmen, Skedsmokorset, Skjetten and Leirsund. Lillestrøm is located 10 minutes by train from Oslo S. Skedsmo borders Oslo and Lørenskog in the west, Rælingen in the south, Nittedal and Gjerdrum in the north, Sørum in the north east and Fet in the east.
The Regional Office for Agriculture consists of the agricultural offices for Lørenskog, Nittedal, Oslo, Rælingen and Skedsmo, with Skedsmo being the host municipality. The office shall, on behalf of the municipalities, promote sustainable management of the earth and forest resources, with the aim of value creation and securing a production basis.
