The entire inner harbour shall be deepened to contour line -9.3 m LAT. If there are adjoining constructions and deepening to -9.3 m will incur a danger of undermining foundations, the dredging line will be drawn out to a safe distance from the construction.
In the seaward approach it is to be deepened to - 9.3 m LAT (plan depth -9.0 m), with the exception of a shallow (6.9m) which is to be deepened to -10.3 m LAT.
The deepening in the harbour comprises dredging a total of approx. 178 000 tfm3, of which the amount of rock is estimated to approx. 27 000 tfm3. The deepening in the sailing approach comprises dredging a total of approx. 33 000 tfm3, of which the amount of rock is estimated to approx. 4 000 tfm3. In order to increase the width of the sailing approch, the existing breakwater shall be shortened by 30 m. This makes up an amount of 8000 tam3 that shall be removed from the breakwater.
The breakwater can be shortened without the wave reduction in the harbour being significantly reduced, cf. the comments from Norconsult.
The sea disposal site is located south of Edøya. The dredging masses from Brenholmen were dumped here.
The distance between Sommarøy and the disposal site is approx. 4.5 km/2.5 Nm from the middle of the harbour to Kvalen.
A waterside disposal site with a jetty inside the harbour shall also be established. The masses from shortening the breakwater can be used in the jetty. Some of the cover blocks from shortening the breakwater must be used in the new breakwater head. The rest can be used in the jetty. These blocks must be slit open before they are used in the jetty. The core mass is to be used in the jetty and can be transported on land.
Excavation down to rock shall be carried out at the foot of the jetty.
There is a polluted area by the side of the waterside disposal site that shall be covered with a thin layer (approx. 30-40 cm) of on site pure uncompacted matter.
