Oslo2022 wants to re-establish Jordal Amphitheatre as a modern and flexible top and multiple use recreational sports arena and carry its legacy from 1952 into the future. The hall is used as the home arena for Vålerenga Hockey and shall become a futuristic arena with operational efficiency in its post-use [sic] phase.
The new Jordal Amphitheatre should be planned and built as a site-adapted and modern building, where accessibility, safety and technical solutions can be used for decades after 2022. The intention is to have down-to-earth architecture with sustainable, innovative and prudent solutions.
Our purpose is to be an advocate for a development that may lead to user requirements being met and the municipality receiving a cost-effective construction. To encourage the development of technologies that can address the need that Oslo2022 describes, we want to invite interested parties to a dialogue conference. One of the ways to have these needs covered may be a planning and design competition where the contractor and supplier market are invited to promote alternative solution models to build a functional ice rink in Oslo. Based on feedback from the dialogue conference, Oslo2022 will make a decision about the competitive tendering procedure and the way forward.
Suppliers who would like to take part in the dialogue conference are asked to register their interest to the Oslo 2022 website: http://www.ol22.no/no/dialogkonferanse by 18 September, 16.00. The dialogue conference will be held on 25.9.2014 at the Jordal Amphitheatre. After the dialogue conference meetings will be held with suppliers. These meetings will be held approx. 3 weeks after the dialogue conference.
