Statsbygg [Public Construction and Property Management] received a commission from the Ministry of Education and Research to begin the engineering design services for and the construction of a new building for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Tromsø (University of Tromsø), level 2 (MH2). The new building is approx. 20 000 m² with a developed area of approx. 5 000 m².
K201 the Ground contract will be announced in October/November 2014, with a planned start February/March 2015 and completion September 2015. This will include excavation, blasting, removal and securing the construction pit. In addition a diversion shall be established in the construction period, expansion of a car park, rigging for the ground contract and preparation of rigging for the general contract, culverts, demolition of the buildings (stores etc.), relaying water and sewage pipelines and electricity and tele cables that cross the construction pit for MH2, moving the nitrogen tank and commissioning the economy courtyard after the construction of the culvert.
In June 2015 Statsbygg will announce the remaining work as a general contract - K202 UiT MH2 General Contract, with a provisional planned start October 2015 and completion November 2017.
