In autumn 2012, NRK launched a new net-TV on www.NRK.no where the audience can watch NRK's TV programs whenever they want, distributed across open internet. This Service is proprietary and is currently functioning with PC, mobile and tablet. In summer 2013 NRK launched a corresponding service aimed at children. NRK would like to further develop these two services to also be offered via Norwegian TV-centric platforms. This means that the audience should be able to sit in front of the TV screen and with the use of remote control select , and watch NRK's TV programs whenever they want.. This requires the development of a new, personalised interface for the TV-screen and navigation via remote control. The prerequisite for this is that the TV-centric platforms are connected to the internet.
NRK's goal is to establish this expansion of the offer to as many TV-centric platforms as possible, roughly divided into four groups:
A) Game Console, for example such as MS Xbox, Sony PS3, Nintendo Wii
B) Smart TV (including Blu-ray players) from different TV manufacturers in the Norwegian market
C) STBs (Set Top Box) controlled by the Norwegian TV operators
d) Streaming Boxes such as Apple-TV, Roku etc.
Delivery scope is to provide NRK's net-TVs on as many TV-centric platforms as possible in the Norwegian market. NRK wants to purchase an established solution or service that can be adapted to NRK's need to distribute the specialised experience for the TV-version of NRK's net-TVs
The solution will be operated by the supplier. Supplier's operation and maintenance of the solution with later changes, updates and additions is regulated by a separate agreement.
NRK shall be the owner and editor of the service.
