Short description
Dam Storevatn is located in Gjesdal municipality. It is a concrete pond that was built in 1959. It shall be reconstructed to satisfy the current requirements in the dam safety regulations as regards dam type, tap capacity and overtoppping in the dimensioning floods.
The measures are mainly:
• Alterations to a solid pond with a drainage gallery.
• Bolts in the north and south solid dams
• New drainage at the overflow with centre approx. 8.3 m under HRV, with a valve house of approx. 80 m2.
• Removal of footbridges and pillars over overflow.
• Raising parapets and some repairs on the dam side.
• Access road to dam south
The work with the pond itself and the valve house can be carried out without draining. Execution in the dam wall for drainage courses, approx. 10 m under HRV must be done with atapped magazine.
The work is divided in 2 seasons due to noise for red-listed species. The order of work in these season depends on the fact that the level in the other drinking water reservoir is sufficient as well as stand-by for the water supply.
The work is to be executed and checked in accordance with NVE ́s regulations.
The work is in a drinking water magazine and there are very strict restrictions on work that can lead to pollution.
