IVAR treats all drinking water so that it will be safe and healthy to drink. The purification methods vary a little at the different water treatment plants. IVAR currently owns and operates five waterworks and supplies drinking water to 11 owner municipalities. The IVAR Water Treatment Plant at Langevatn is the largest and supplies over 300 000 persons with drinking water. Krokaheia Waterworks is located in Strand municipality and is the primary supply to the Jørpeland — Tau area. Hjelmeland Waterworks supplies Hjelmeland municipality. Oltedal Waterworks supplies 800 persons in Oltedal, Dirdal Waterworks in Gjesdal supplies the Gilja and Dirdal areas. At IVAR's largest water treatment plant at Langevatn, the purpose of the water treatment is first and foremost to reduce the corrosive properties of the raw water, as well as ensuring the hygienic quality. The Drinking Water Regulation sets strict requirements concerning the quality of good drinking water. The water IVAR delivers meets these requirements.
