Short description
The objective of the monitoring program Økokyst is to monitor eco-systems in coast and fjord areas, and will identify how these are affected by transfer of nutrients and organic materials, as well as long-term climate changes. The Water Regulation and associated guidelines for classification of environmental conditions in water is an important premise supplier for this monitoring program. The program has the following main goal: Document how the condition of the eco-system level is affected as a result of eutrophication and particulate pollution, Document how the condition of the eco-system level is affected as a result of climate changes, Give a data basis for further development of the classification system under the Water Regulation. The monitoring will be part of the national basic monitoring of the environmental condition in coastal waters and monitor regional changes in the coastal eco-systems resulting from nutrient transfer, particulate pollution and or large-scale climate changes.
