Short description
On 25.1.2019, the Nordic Prime Ministers signed the ‘Declaration on Nordic Carbon Neutrality’ in which they commit themselves to work towards a carbon-neutral Nordic region.
To assist this effort, the prime ministers commit themselves to intensify Nordic cooperation to ‘decarbonising the transport sector, including through an inter-modal shift, efficiency, electrification and use of sustainable renewable fuels’.
Responding to the declaration, the Nordic energy ministers agreed to strengthen their cooperation in order to meet the objectives set out in the prime ministerial declaration on Nordic Carbon neutrality.
Renewable electricity from wind and solar are growing fast in the Nordics. This gives an opportunity for decarbonising the road transport sector. The aim of Nordic P2X for sustainable road transport is to assess the potential for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from road transport within the Nordics by the use of electrofuels.
