Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) is carrying out the project “Cross-border tools for biodiversity hotspots preservation via monitoring and prevention of forest fires along Russian-Finnish border (BIOKARELIA)”. In the framework of the project will be developed tools for forest fires forecasting and forest cover monitoring along the border between Finland and Russia.
Aerial images processing for mapping of forest fire risks in Russia, delivery of forest inventory information based on aerial images processing with fire risk classification at the stand level.
