Short description

Introduction:
Stockholm Exergi AB is the owner of Boiler P1 in Värtan Plant, Stockholm.
The boiler is commissioned in 1976 and a pre-study is ongoing for investigating measures for extending life time 25 years more and use biooil fuel instead of fossil oil. The boiler is of Benson type with reheat and connected to a backpressure/condensing turbine.
The plan is to install new burners and oil system when upgrading the boiler. Burner specified below are existing ones.

Data boiler:
ManufacturerVKW/Götaverken
Steam flow max continuous750 ton/h
Steam pressure after SH210 bar
Steam temp after SH538oC
Steam flow after reheating 650 ton/h
Steam pressure after reheating43,5 bar
Steam temp after reheating 537oC
Efficiency 93%
Burner supplier VKW (Babcock)
Burner type Steam atomized
Number of burners 6
Oil flow max 60 ton/h

Boiler calculation in service:
Operation tests with biooil and fossil oil have been/shall be made to see the influence of changed fuel. To evaluate the tests and to make calculations to evaluate the effect on combustions/emissions using different fuel qualities Stockholm Exergi AB needs a company with capacity to build a CFD model of the boiler and perform combustion calculations. Prediction of boiler capacity/emissions with biooil and fouling of boiler tubes in different sections shall also be included. The boiler has today an OFA system, and it shall be evaluated which measures are needed in future for NOx/emission reduction?
Attached you have a section of boiler P1.
