With this investment, Aalto University strengthens its comprehensive Additive Manufacturing capabilities. Technology of this investment, metal powder bed fusion technology, fulfills the capabilities of Aalto University by enabling direct digital manufacturing of complex and accurate metal components. The equipment makes it possible to create new research e.g. on the fields of novel and lightweight design, complex geometries, parts consolidation and new additive manufacturing materials but is not restricted to these. The equipment must adapt to several different practical purposes but still provide proven industrial grade results without unnecessary wasting resources like labor, material or energy. The equipment will also contribute to University’s academic networking and co-operation through different projects and programs.
