The
Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) is, since several years, engaged in mapping
the geology of the Swedish continental shelf. The fieldwork is to a large part
based on the survey ship S/V Ocean Surveyor, a 38 metres long twin hull vessel
constructed in GRP sandwich. An important part of the survey equipment aboard
is a hull mounted sub bottom profiler (SBP). The SBP currently in use, an EDO
Western HiPac system, is very old and has to be replaced. SGU has therefore
decided to purchase a reliable modern sub bottom profiler system.
