Svenska kraftnät needs a gateway solution for SCADA communication that can convert IEC 60870-5-104 edition 2 protocol to a serial based proprietary protocol called DDN90. The gateway solution shall be connected to a MPLS/IP based network that is connected to the remote terminal units in the substations. IEC 60870-5-104 edition 2 protocol shall be used for communication between the gateway solution and the remote terminal units. The gateway solution shall also be connected via X.25 interfaces to a serial based communication network called DDN. A proprietary protocol called DDN90 shall be used for communication between the gateway solution and the SCADA systems. The gateway solution must be redundant and consist of four gateway units (hardware) that shall be installed in two geographically separate locations. The gateway solution shall act as a bridge between the serial based communication network and the MPLS/IP based network. The gateway solution shall convert SCADA communication between IEC 60870-5-104 edition 2 protocol and DDN90 protocol; it must also fulfill all other technical requirements in the specification to this procurement.
