Etikkrådet for Statens pensjonsfond utland (SPU) is an independent body who's task it is to give advice to Finansdepartementet (The Ministry of Finance) in accordance with the Guidelines for observation and exclusion from SPU's investment universe (SPU's ethical guidelines). Finansdepartementet (Ministry of Finance) makes decisions regarding exclusion or observation of companies from SPU's investment universe on the basis of Etikkrådets recommendations. Both the Finansdepartementets decisions and Etikkrådets recommendations are made public.
Etikkrådet asked for tenders on a four year contract for delivery of the following services:
1. Access to a database with assessment of companies within the areas of environmental and social responsibility (ESG - environmental, social, governance - performance).
2. Monitoring of companies in SPU where there is an unacceptable risk that the company contributes to or is responsible for conduct discussed in the ethical guidelines §2 part 3.
3. Identification of companies who produce individual products (product screening) as discussed in the ethical guidelines §2 part 1.
