The project includes the construction of the Sandsfjord bridge in the municipality of Suldal.
The bridge is a concrete box girder bridge comprised of prestressed concrete with a varying box height that shall be built as cantilever bridge.
The total length of the bridge is 580 meters with a main span of 290 meters.
The bridge has the following span divisions: 102.5 m, 290 m, 155 m and 33 m.
The bridgeway width is 10 meters and width of the box of the superstructure is 7 meters.
The superstructures box height inside the towers is 14 meters and 3.5 meters in the middle of the main span.
The bridge will be built with two traffic lanes without any walking path.
The highest point of the roadway is located at + 73.0 meters in the center sea lane. The Sailing height is 65 meters in the center of the sea lane.
The bridge is planned to be built with four cantilever formwork units.
No foundation shall be established submerged in the water.
The tower height from the foundation to the lower edge of the superstructure is 50.4 m in axis 2 and 44.4 m in axis 3.
The Sandsfjord bridge is a part of the project Fv. 46 Sandsfjord bridge project.
When the entire project is completed it shall replace the ferry service between Ropeid - Sand.
The project is divided into two contracts. The ongoing construction of roads / tunnels up to the the bridge on both sides of Sandsfjorden from Tysingvatnet on the east side and from Øvrabø on the Ropeidhalvøya. A total of approx. 4.5 km.
