Equipment for metal additive manufacturing (AM)

Short description

The department of Management and Engineering (IEI) at Linköping University (LiU) are procuring an equipment for metal additive manufacturing (AM) based on the powder bed fusion (PBF) technique. To complement the existing infrastructure for AM within LiU’s current network, the procurement aims to strengthen the research activities connected to material and process development based on the electron beam powder bed fusion (E-PBF) technique. Even if the E-PBF technique has been commercially available for some decades it is still a technique under development and IEI wants to take an active role in the development of this technology. The E-PBF system (the system) under the scope of this procurement contract must therefore be adapted for research and development including an open-source software for e.g. beam path control and the possibility to integrate additional hardware for e.g. process monitoring.
