This supply of laboratory services is handled by Servicemaegleren A/S on
behalf of the Danish Safety Technology Authority.
The laboratory services out to tender include
laboratory testing of the Contracting Authority’s main areas, i.e. toys, child
care products, electrical equipment covered by the Heavy Current Act,
electrical equipment covered by the Low Voltage Act, gas products, pyrotechnic articles,
as well as mobile control measurements of solariums in Denmark.
The Contracting Authority carries out random checks on
a wide variety of products, ranging from electrical appliances, gas appliances,
fireworks, to toys and other products intended for consumers.
Random checks of the different product categories will
help to ensure:
·
that they meet technical standards.
·
the labelling/rating is in order.
·
that they are not dangerous to use.
Checks
are typically conducted by the Contracting Authority selecting products where
experience shows that there may be a particular risk associated with them.
Other times, the focus is on an entire product group, for example, lighting,
cots, garden chairs or toddlers’ toys. Checks are also carried out as a theme.
A theme can be to check the labelling/rating of products, for instance, CE
marking, warning labels or whether the accompanying user manual for the product
is correct.
The
Contracting Authority also carries out checks on products on the basis of
reviews and enquiries from consumers and the business community.
The
requirements for the quality, performance and scope of the laboratory services
are described in more detail in the Annexes mentioned in the tender document, section. 3.1.
