Fluorescence stereo microscope / macroscope imaging system

Short description

The FLUORESCENCE STEREOMICROSCOPE / MACROSCOPE IMAGING SYSTEM will be part of the Light Microscopy Core Facility and Transgenic and Tissue Phenotyping Core Facility of Biocenter Oulu, University of Oulu, Finland, where it will be used for life science imaging. Core facilities have an open access user policy and instrumentation and software should be easy to use and meet the requirements of users from different research areas.
The main application for the instrument is microscopic analysis of mesoscopic scale tissue samples, embryos, tissue cultures and small animals in vivo. The system must be sensitive and capable for parallax-free 3D and time-lapse imaging of tissues, organotypic cultures and animals (mouse, rat). Capability for software controlled and automated fast, high resolution RGB color and multicolor fluorescence XYZ imaging in combination with large scanning areas and volumes is also essential. As samples are often sensitive and signals are weak, it is important that in addition to the high excitation power, the signal detection is as sensitive as possible. A large range optical zooming capability and a good stereoscopic view through the binoculars are of the utmost importance. The set-up should be upgradeable with additional accessories and software components.
