Short description

St. Petersburg and Lake Saimaa cities Imatra, Lappeenranta, Mikkeli and Savonlinna together with Leningrad Region cooperate in the Lake Saimaa St Petersburg Travel Corridor CBC CORRIDOR 1088 project. The cooperation aims to raise awareness and together with tour operators to increase incoming tourism outside the main tourism season in the region. The project is funded by the European Union, The Russian Federation and The Republic of Finland in the CBC 2014-2020 South-East Finland – Russia framework.

The destination guide with model packages is to be developed by competitive bidding where multiple tour operators, incoming agents and tourism experts can participate in the creation of new cross border tourism products.

Expected input is the analysis and in collaboration with project partners, the selection of attractions and sites, tourism services and logistics routes of international relevance and suitability for cross-border packaged tours in the form of round trips covering the area. The expected output is a knowledge base (product manual) describing selected sites, routes of various modalities, visa requirements and processes for Europeans, accommodation and service options that can be easily used in tourism product development as reference material. This knowledge base will serve as a logistics guide for further package tours to the region. The area with its attractions and top things to do should be placed on a map with clear routes to and within the region.

In the knowledge base, the project partners will provide information on logistics options, visa requirements they are aware of, accommodation options, attractions and top things to do in the whole region. Tourist boards of the project partners are prepared to provide complementary information during the process as required.

The tenderer can propose the format of the knowledge base, but it will be public output, it will have to include a pdf printout, and will be published on the project website. The service provider can with permission of the project withhold information considered trade secret, in accordance with the European Assessibility Act, EAA.
