Short description

University of Oulu and University of Tampere are acquiring wearable devices for a pilot research study to monitor exposures during pregnancy. Two kinds of devices are sought for the study: 1) a wearable filter based exposometer and 2) a smart health data logger (e.g. smartwatch). The devices are used for seasonal exposure measurement. The quotations for both exposometers and smart health data loggers are requested for 102 units

A multiomics approach, evaluating immunome, transcriptome, microbiome, proteome and metabolome adaptation during pregnancy has defined immune clockworks which during pregnancy can define the too early switch from the tolerogenic immunophenotype of the feto-placental unit to a pro-inflammatory phenotype with the adverse effect of preterm birth. In this pilot study our aim is to evaluate the feasibility of multiomics profiling in pregnant Finnish women who will carry a wearable device for the identification of environmental exposures. We will exploit the country-wide Finnish Vaccine Cohort (F-VAC) and Finnish Maternity Cohort (FMC) study infrastructures, and Finnish Medical Birth Registry at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), respectively for enrolment of pregnant women to wear the multiomics device, blood and nucleic acid sampling, and follow-up.
